The Anderson Townhouse in Blountville, Tennessee, is a historically significant log building constructed between 1792 and 1795. It served as the residence and meeting place for Blountville's first town commissioners: Richard Gammon, Major George Maxwell, and Colonel John Anderson, all of whom were veterans of the American Revolution and held prominent civil offices. Colonel John Anderson was also the owner of the well-known Blockhouse on the famed Wilderness Road. historicalmarkerproject.com

The structure originally consisted of a log section, with a frame addition added by 1826 following a fire that destroyed the kitchen around 1811. Over the years, the building has been home to various Presbyterian and Methodist ministers, as well as Joseph Anderson, one of the founders of modern Bristol. historicalmarkerproject.com

In 1974, the Sullivan County Historical Commission acquired the property with funds donated by local clubs and businesses, along with a grant from the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration. This acquisition was part of America's Bicentennial Celebration. historicalmarkerproject.com

The Anderson Townhouse is located on Bristol Highway, west of Messengill Road, in Blountville, Tennessee. It stands as a testament to the early history of the region and the individuals who played pivotal roles in its development.
